Ada, Okla. – Chickasaw Nation Governor Bill Anoatubby has appointed Joy Moon director of communications management and support within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Communications and Community Development.

“Joy Moon understands the vital role of good stewardship in our mission to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people,” Governor Anoatubby said. “Her education, experience and drive to serve the Chickasaw people make her a true asset to the Chickasaw Nation.”

As director of communications management and support, Ms. Moon is involved in developing a resource database, managing numerous budgets and keeping a wide range of projects on track.

“It is an honor and privilege to serve in Governor Anoatubby’s administration,” Ms. Moon said. “Our goal is to streamline departmental operations and develop a database to ensure we provide accurate, up to date information. As a Chickasaw, I am proud to serve my people in this new capacity and continue to support the mission of the Chickasaw Nation.”

Ms. Moon and her team are involved in projects including direct mail, websites, social media, video production, advertising and more. These projects often include personnel from several divisions, and may include information about education, health care, housing or other matters important to the Chickasaw people.

Ms. Moon also helps manage more than 20 department budgets and helps oversee production accounting for Chickasaw Nation Productions’ feature films.

Ms. Moon began her career with the Chickasaw Nation in 2008 as an administrative assistant within the Chickasaw Nation Department of Communications and Community Development. In this capacity, Moon provided administrative support to the department director of public affairs and media relations.

In 2013, Ms. Moon was promoted to project manager within the department of communications and community development. Ms. Moon developed and provided oversight concerning special departmental projects, accounting procedures, and reviewing and managing departmental agreements.

Completing her undergraduate with a Bachelor of Science in accounting in 2015, Moon was selected to be the special assistant to the Department of Communications and Community Development Secretary.

A graduate of Leadership Ada and Leadership YOUniversity, Ms. Moon has been recognized for her contributions to both the Chickasaw Nation and the community at large.

She was selected as NextGen in Oklahoma under 30 in 2016. NextGen recognizes and encourages the next generation of Oklahoma leaders for their innovative, creative and inspiring attitudes.
