Celebrating progress, unity and a bright future

By Chris Anoatubby, Governor, Chickasaw Nation

Chokma! What a month it has been in the Chickasaw Nation! Chikasha Poya! We are Chickasaw, and we have much to celebrate! Summer is always a busy time in the Chickasaw Nation, and this one was no exception! Thousands of students participated in camps, academies, internships, on the job training and family fun across our great nation.

We broke ground on the new Chickasaw Youth Club in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, a place that will provide youth with a safe, engaging place to learn, grow and build friendships. Investing in our youth is investing in our future!

After many years of planning, construction of the Chickasaw Nation Health Newcastle Medical Center is underway. This is exciting and beneficial for all Chickasaws! When finished, the campus will be more than just a hospital. It will be another important step in the future of First American healthcare. This new facility will provide top quality healthcare and will be a place to develop and train the next generation of healthcare providers. We are building a first of its kind First American Research center.

It takes many people working together for the betterment of the Chickasaw Nation and for projects like these to come together. The Chickasaw Legislature is a vital partner. We also have a great team of dedicated employees working hard each day to meet our mission. Working together, we can accomplish much to enhance the overall quality of life of the Chickasaw people.

You, the Chickasaw people, are the strength of our tribe. Thank you for all the notes, calls and words of encouragement and support. As our team continues to work hard daily to serve you and develop plans for the future, we appreciate hearing your ideas directly from you. As you know, many of the programs, services and resources available today have come from your ideas and input. Please continue to share with us!

As we look ahead, we are excited! There is still much work to do. We have a solid foundation on which to build, and we are researching and embracing new opportunities to ensure that we continue to thrive. We are planning for the Chickasaw Annual Meeting and Festival and hope you are making plans to join us October 3 in Tishomingo or online.

We look forward to all we will accomplish — together — in the months ahead! Chipisala’cho — here we go!
