December Message

Governor Bill Anoatubby

Season’s Greetings

By Bill Anoatubby, Governor, Chickasaw Nation

Chokma,

Merry Christmas and warmest holiday wishes from the Chickasaw Nation!

At this special time of year, we are grateful for all the wonderful blessings the Almighty has bestowed on us. For many of us, it’s a time for family, friends and community. All things we highly value at the Chickasaw Nation.

Family and community are central to the Chickasaw way of life. Our ancestors were bound by this communal interest in caring for each other and serving the greater community. It has always been part of our culture to welcome guests, be hospitable and share our blessings.

Today, we continue that bond of community and unity, no matter where we each live, because it is a deep part of who we are. We strive to care for our people well while also being a good neighbor, a good business partner and a good community leader.

This is true for our tribe and our citizens. We are proud to celebrate the many Chickasaws who make the effort to care for their family and friends, who look out for their neighbors and who help make their community a better place for all.

This season, we pray that each of you are blessed with family, friends and loved ones to enjoy the holidays. And we hope you are able to carry on the Chickasaw tradition of sharing what you have with those around you. We ask that God might create an awareness in us when the opportunity arises to help our neighbor.

Christmas is a season for love, peace and joy. Let us pray for strength and the understanding to face the future with wisdom and grace.

We wish you love, peace and prosperity this holiday season.

May God bless you and your family! Merry Christmas and happy new year!
